Movement Bridges
improvising the I & the you, composing the we
Movement Bridges: improvising the I and the you, composing the we is a workshop series of creative dance and composition for teenagers 12-18 years old and mature adults of age 65+ based on Community Dance principles.
Polena created this workshop series in 2019 motivated by the need to explore and manifest the ability of dance to create bridges and spark new connections and initiatives in the local communities. She chose two of her favorite age groups to address the workshop to: teenagers and mature adults.
The workshop aims at bridging the gap that might exist between two generations and channel a creative exchange with its primary materials being the body, movement and togetherness.
The workshop approaches moving and composing together as a fertile ground for communicating and learning by mutual exchange beyond hierarchical structures. For this purpose the workshop evolves through a process-oriented structure and applies a pedagogical approach that gives room for movement to be introduced through collective values such as cooperation and group composition and through values of personal autonomy such as encouraging individual initiative and expressivity in movement.
The workshop was selected for Pocket Dance Festival in Thessaloniki in 2019: http://pocketdancefestival.com/workshops/
